Linux & data centre infrastructure

Linux and data centre infrastructure, from bare metal up

Two decades of racking, cabling, provisioning and hardening: colocation footprints and Linux fleets run as automated, consistent and compliant systems.

What I do

  • Colocation build-outs: rack-and-stack, structured cabling, power and cooling budgets, remote hands
  • Hardware lifecycle and out-of-band management (IPMI, iDRAC)
  • Bare-metal provisioning and image builds for RHEL, CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu
  • Kernel and network tuning, LVM and RAID storage, systemd services
  • Patching, CIS-style hardening and configuration drift control with Ansible
  • Virtualisation on KVM and VMware
  • NetBox DCIM as the source of truth for racks, power, cabling and IPAM

How I approach it

Every server should be reproducible from code. Provisioning, hardening and patching are automated so a rebuilt host is identical to the one it replaces, and drift is detected rather than discovered.

The physical layer gets the same discipline as the software: documented in NetBox, budgeted for power and cooling, and labelled so remote hands can work safely at 2am.

Track record

  • Ran operations across multiple data centres, including NEXTDC and Global Switch: rack-and-stack, structured cabling, power and cooling budgets, hardware lifecycle and remote hands.

    Next Generation Networks
  • Automated the Linux estate end to end: bare-metal provisioning, image builds, patching, CIS-style hardening and drift control with Ansible.

    Macquarie Technology Group
  • Made NetBox DCIM (racks, power, cabling, IPAM) the source of truth for data centre provisioning and self-service.

    Macquarie Technology Group
  • Built Linux servers from bare metal for web, mail, DNS and file services.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Which data centres has Jad Seifeddine worked in?

Jad has built and operated colocation footprints across multiple Sydney data centres, including NEXTDC and Global Switch, covering rack-and-stack, structured cabling, power and cooling budgets, hardware lifecycle and remote hands.

How does Jad Seifeddine keep Linux fleets consistent and secure?

Jad automates the Linux lifecycle with Ansible: bare-metal provisioning, image builds, patching, CIS-style hardening and drift control, so RHEL, CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu hosts stay consistent and compliant and can be rebuilt from code.
